Role Responsibility

Strategic purpose of the role:

 

The Marketing and Communications Manager will translate and deliver the planning and execution of all local marketing and customer communications activity targeting local customers, ensuring involvement of all relevant stakeholders within the organisation. This will involve working cross functionally with other central teams such as Events, Marketing, Creative, Buying and Digital - acting as the key point of contact for managers and leaders across the store. as well as external agencies/partners.

 

This role is focused upon driving our Selfridges growth plan, positioning both the Selfridges brand and the store as the ultimate shopping destination for new and existing customers regionally.

 

The success of this role will rely heavily on successful customer acquisition, building relationships within the local area through effective networking and optimizing leads, and building longer-term local commercial partnerships. This position will also help retain and develop relationships and sales with our best clients, as well as helping attract new customers to Selfridges.

 

You will act as a brand ambassador for Selfridges, attending key meetings to promote the products, services and mutual benefits of a partnership with Selfridges.

 

Broader Role Scope:

Expanding our local customer base across all channels is a key pillar of Selfridges growth plan. Driving customer retention & engagement is a primary focus in delivering this growth and increasing brand awareness, consideration and footfall are secondary levers. To actualise this, it is essential to focus upon the capture of customer data instore and therefore the Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with the Customer Engagement team to track this performance and identify ways in which to drive it.

 

The Marketing and Communications Manager is also responsible for managing key regional partnerships and external agencies from a marketing perspective (excluding PR).

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Customer focus and Customer acquisition

  • Driving customer retention & engagement in your local area
  • Attend events/PR meetings regularly to ensure working as one and leverage for higher impact.
  • Responsible for analysing the effectiveness of regional communications activity (eg: local partrnerships) whilst focusing on retention, brand awareness & consideration and footfall to stores.
  • Attend key brand meetings alongside retail managers to curate and deliver communication plans with brands based on product newness, exclusives and events, and to support sales of real estate to brands.

 

Building long term relationships to drive performance

  • Implement and oversee the customer communications plan for the relevant store, working closely with and taking direction from the central teams across Customer Marketing, Social, PR, Events, Multi-Media Creative, Creative Presentation, Internal Communications, Customer Engagement, Buying & Merchandising – building effective relationships with key counterparts and stakeholders in store and at head office within these teams
  • Align, update and report on local initiatives on a recurring basis with the General Managers of the stores, and ensure cross-functional stakeholders are updated weekly.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the key stakeholders to ensure one integrated customer communications plan and consistency of message across all channels. Support in the execution, reporting and analysis of these activities.
  • Update the Communications Calendar for the store, as a strategic tool for planning and cross functional sharing.
  • Support delivery of the customer engagement strategy with VIP initiatives – being the key point of contact for the store to implement and deliver upcoming initiatives as part of a growing VIP programme at store level.

 

Administrative/ BAU

  • Raise purchase orders and assist with budget administration.
  • Own Communications Calendar for the store
  • Plan, own and co-ordinate ad hoc communications projects as and when required.
  • Build and maintain local marketing partnerships eg: Hammerson/INTU/TFGM


 

    The Ideal Candidate

    Qualifications / Training

    • University Degree or equivalent

     

    Experience

    • Work experience or internship in Local Marketing & Communications, Events or PR 

     

    Technical Skills

    • Competent in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
