Role Responsibility
The Creative Direction team operates as Selfridges’ in-house creative agency. We provide the business with creative concepts and future-thinking research material spanning creative schemes, advertising campaigns, architecture and retail spaces, customer experience, brand guardianship, customer behaviour, business culture, alternative business models, and future opportunities and risks. Our key objective is to provide exceptional creative direction that pushes the brand and business forward in a way that is consistent with our brand’s values and identity.
Job Purpose:
As the Creative Direction team’s sole Designer, you will assist the team in designing creative presentations and design-led content for use both internally and on occasion externally. Rather than being bound to rigid brand guidelines we are seeking a designer who can make bespoke and tailored solutions per project.
Key Responsibilities:
- The design and development of forward-thinking and engaging presentations appropriate to audience
- Formatting and designing regular Creative Direction communications (E.g monthly newsletter, symposiums, printed bi-annual broadsheet, Instagram posts and more)
- Ensuring the quality of image and design of the presentation is of the highest standard
- Working closely with key members of the Selfridges team to gather content and information, explaining clearly what is needed from them and by when
- Ensuring all written copy is grammatically correct and spell checked
- Advising and inspiring the team and beyond on visual culture and graphic trends
- Liaison with printing partners for ad hoc printed items (E.g. boards, decks, short publications)
- Connect with Design team on a regular basis to inform and inspire each other
The Ideal Candidate
- Has a Graphic Design background
- Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills
- Excellent Powerpoint skills and all common office applications
- Art Direction eye. An excellent and relevant visual vocabulary (E.g. great taste in reference imagery and sources)
- A curious brain who is deeply interested in Art, Design and Culture.
- Ability to create moving image content suitable for social media and presentations (Gif, Video etc)
- Articulate with good writing skills including excellent spelling and grammar
- Meticulous eye for detail and high presentation standards
- Highly organised with an ability to develop and work to processes and deadlines
- A calm and polite manner with an ability to communicate with all levels of the business including Directors
- Confidential and discreet
- Enjoys a mix of both independent working and teamwork
