GRAPHIC DESIGN MANAGER – RETAIL ENVIRONMENT
About the role
We’re looking for a talented Graphic Design Manager to lead the design and development of graphics and signage for our retail environments across all Selfridges stores. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Senior Design Manager for Graphics, as well as the Property Team, creating cohesive and compelling visual identities for new store spaces that align with the overall spatial design and create amazing destinations for our customers.
You’ll take a 360° approach, leading the process from receiving the initial creative brief through to final execution—designing everything from hoardings and signage to the packaging and in-store promotional graphics for the new destination! You’ll be responsible for developing complete design packages that not only bring spaces to life but also create engaging, customer-focused destinations. With the customer journey at the forefront of your work, you’ll take insights from our retail teams to ensure every touchpoint feels considered.
The ideal candidate
- A strong interest in culture, media, and the arts is essential. You should be attuned to the zeitgeist - staying connected and up to date with trends and movements in both graphic and interior design - while continuously seeking inspiration to inform and elevate your creative work
- Experience and skill in typography and creative graphic design in agency / cultural sector / retail setting
- You’ll have demonstrative experience at a Senior Designer or Manager level with a collaborative approach through teamwork as well as ability to develop ideas independently.
- Design and develop graphics packages for new and evolving retail spaces.
- Create concept presentations that clearly communicate design intent.
- Design and artwork a range of physical graphics, including hoardings, signage, menus, and elevated POS.
- Interpret floorplans and elevations, ensuring all designs integrate seamlessly with the spatial layout.
- Collaborate closely with the Signage Manager and manufacturers to ensure timely and high-quality installation.
- Prepare final artwork and specifications for production.
- Use 3D and visualisation tools (ideally SketchUp or similar) to present ideas in context.
- Align all visual outputs with brand guidelines and spatial design concepts
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in environmental or retail graphics, ideally within a multi-site or large-format retail environment.
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite, with additional experience in SketchUp or 3D design tools preferred.
- Confident in preparing production-ready artwork and working with signage fabricators and installers.
- A collaborative approach with excellent presentation and communication skills, and the confidence to present your ideas to senior stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to detail, from typography to materials specification.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines across various stakeholders.
