A bit about the role

As a Windows Stylist, you will support the Styling Manager in delivering cutting edge styling in Selfridges windows. They will work closely with their Styling and Production team colleagues to ensure successful scheme launches and maintain standards in the windows throughout schemes. With continual creative research the Stylist will support the Styling Manager to ensure Selfridges windows styling remains one step ahead of competitors and continues to build on the respected reputation Selfridges’ windows hold. As a Windows Stylist you will:

  • Work closely with the Styling Manager to interpret and deliver the styling concept of each scheme.
  • Understand key seasonal trends with the guidance of the Styling Manager.
  • Support the Styling Manager with development of styling packs and presenting these packs to the wider business.
  • Research fashion and lifestyle trends for current and future seasons, whilst being able to demonstrate an awareness of major competitors through regular comparative shopping and detailed research.
  • Support Styling Manager with research and development of wig and make-up design
  • Work closely with Production and Styling colleagues to deliver schemes smoothly with a collaborative approach.
  • Work to a strict installation timeline.
  • Work out of hours with styling and production colleagues towards a smooth delivery of major installations.
  • Work with styling colleagues to maintain high security throughout the stock on loan process. From the stock logging procedure to keeping stock secure in back areas at all times.
  • Observe mannequin care and maintenance throughout the installation process.
  • Checks and maintains each window on a daily basis.
  • Adheres to H & S standards, policies and procedures, ensuring the windows are maintained in a safe, hazard-free manner.
  • Work closely with Retail Operations, to ensure key fashion and home managers are kept informed of stock requirements for each scheme.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with key sales staff to ensure the smooth running of the stock on loan process.
  • Maintaining relationships with brands and managing the sample call in process.
  • Work closely with the buying team to secure key pieces and scheme exclusive products.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key suppliers (most prominently of mannequins, wigs make-up etc)

A bit about you

  • You’ll have previous experience in styling either within windows, VM or photography, so you’ll be used to prop/mannequin handling and conducting creative research.  

  • You’ll have a keen interest in both fashion and home as well as knowledge of garments and fit.  

  • You’ll have amazing attention to detail where you’ll ensure standards in the windows are always immaculate. 

  • You know when to listen and take in information but equally you know when to speak up and voice your opinion – it’s all about balance right! 

  • You’ll inspire a positive, pacey working attitude among your fellow team members, as well as being a fantastic communicator, no matter who you’re talking to.  

  • You’ll be a natural problem solver and a good listener who approaches everything with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
