UX Researcher

Role Responsibility

We have a newly created role within the UX/UI Team at Selfridges.

As a UX Researcher, 

  • You will understand and communicate why user-cantered design is important and how user research contributes to it.
  • You will know which techniques are appropriate to generate specific kinds of insights into user behaviour and needs, so that research activities are focused on delivering value to the end user.
  • You will lead our test and learn programme, plan out research activities including the schedule of activities, methods, and allocation of resources required
  • You will work with third party agencies to recruit the right people to participate in research.
  • You will be responsible for all phases of research, including development of discussion guides, facilitating interviews or moderating usability tests, and analysing and sharing findings.
  • You will synthesise your own research and data from other sources (such as market research surveys, expert reviews, and analytics data) into personas and experience maps.
  • You will share insights regularly to various stakeholders and teams.
  • You will source and procure participants and facilities to conduct user research activities, specifying requirements for user testing groups
  • You will manage your own interviewing and usability testing resources, including equipment and testing software.
  • You will shape and evolve our user research processes and best practices.
  • You will Facilitate 1-to-1 sessions and/or focus groups, guide discussions and build rapport.
  • You will work closely with design teams to incorporate user research findings into the design; so that it maintains focus on user needs.
  • You will use evidence drawn from data and research analysis to represent the user in product and design discussions.
  • You will monitor performance and report against plans and taking effective corrective action if required.
  • You will ensure that quality control tools and techniques are applied effectively.
  • You will manage effective engagement with all relevant stakeholders to make sure that, where appropriate, their needs are incorporated.
  • You will support the UX manager by taking on business ideas and directing them through the correct channels, whether that be briefing them to the product owners or progressing them through our BAU workstream.

  • Have good awareness of our trade and creative campaigns
  • Build & maintain relationships across stakeholder groups.
  • Understand & be aware of the work, process and stakeholders within Digital
  • Understand the impact of the work you are delivering
  • Be confident planning & prioritising your own workload
  • Be responsible for producing high quality deliverables
  • Take ownership of your development plan
  • Be confident when communicating to stakeholders within the team & across digital
  • Have a proactive and have a can-do attitude
