A bit about the role:

This role will be focused on supporting the Head of PR  to implement the social media strategy, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver owned social media channel content as well as being our social media expert for London. Working with an amazing roster of brands and collaborators you will manage a calendar of thumb stopping social-first imagery and video, while also shaping the stories that platform our brand, our innovative and memorable in-store events, projects and products. 

As a Social Media Manager, you will:

  • Alongside the Head of PR & Social and Manchester/Birmingham PR & Social Media Manager, you will develop and lead a forward-thinking social media strategy that positions Selfridges as the brand reinventing retail
  • Manage the social calendar across all platforms, liaising with all stakeholders for 360 customer comms
  • Be an expert in best practice for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Tik Tok, Clubhouse, Snapchat, Whatsapp and Pinterest for the UK and international markets,
  • Manage and implement content and campaigns cross-functionally while ensuring a social first approach to all activations
  • Work closely with Brand Voice, Creative, Buying and Content and Photo Studio to ensure a consistent tone of voice and brand identity for owned social
  • Manage external relationships to ensure we are optimising key opportunities with brand and platform partners
  • Manage reporting across key categories for the business to increase awareness of social performance across the business
  • Ensure a consist briefing system for content: key photographers, influencers, creative stakeholders and internal talent
  • Support the London store to ensure localisation of key messaging and build fame nationally and internationally
  • Manage Community engagement across our owned social channels

A bit about you

  • Extensive experience managing social platforms across international markets and using social listening tools
  • Experience leading and inspiring a team
  • Experience working cross-departmentally and representing the social agenda, introducing new concepts to the business
  • Proven track record running social campaigns
  • Confident copywriter with a flair for witty social captions
  • Previous e-commerce website and retail experience preferable
  • Exceptional stakeholder management
  • Capable of working within a pressurized environment to tight deadlines
  • Confident and positive with solution-orientated outlook
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and be a self starter when required
  • A love of social media and clear understanding of innovation and platform developments and trends
  • Good at time management and capable of working to tight deadline
  • Matrix management experience a bonus
