Social Media Assistant

Job Introduction

This role will be focused on supporting the Social Media Manager and Social Media Editor in planning and implementing the Social Media Strategy. The role will require both creativity and organisation, switching between content creation, planning, scheduling and compiling reports for key stakeholders in the business. You will attend shoots and work with an amazing roster of brands assisting the creation of thumb stopping social-first imagery and video, acting as the gatekeeper to our weekly calendar and partaking in the coverage our wide-breadth of Selfridges events.

Role Responsibility

  • Alongside the Social Media Editor, implement the social media identity across Instagram, Stories, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Pinterest for the UK and international markets, with a view to increasing brand awareness, driving engagement and driving traffic to the website
  • Become the gatekeeper for our demanding weekly calendar, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders regarding key opportunities and stories, and adapting to last minute changes and fast-turn arounds
  • Schedule our social content using our Social Publishing platform, monitor and compile weekly, monthly and pro performance reports
  • Write engaging, witty captions for our content
  • Contribute to an exciting, consistent, always-developing stream of content to engage our existing audience and grow our follower base, with a particular focus on Fashion and Beauty
  • Assist in the development our social media storytelling across live platform and Stories  
  • Develop external relationships and assist with the briefing process for our brand partnership collaborations and co-created content with influencers and creative stakeholders
  • Analyse key data to inform strategic decisions and use creative testing to build insights into our audience
  • Supporting the regional stores, Birmingham, Trafford and Manchester to ensure localisation of key messaging
  • Maintain and challenge standards across all channels in keeping with our brand direction
  • Coordinate and assist on the weekly social shoots
  • Research and present key social media developments, digital trends, and emerging talent and influencers, becoming an authority on the fast-paced pulse of social media
  • Benchmark against key competitors and inspiring campaigns
  • Work with the Social Editor and PR team to reach out to influencers, creating a passionate community of ambassadors for the brand
  • Be plugged into social media and digital developments across all our existing and potential domestic and international networks

The Ideal Candidate

  • A true social media native with 1-2 years in social media or digital publishing  
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and iMovie or equivalent software preferable
  • A keen creative eye and strong photography skills
  • Experience with Social CMS and listening tools such as Social Studio preferable
  • Confident copywriter with a flair for witty social captions
  • Knowledge of the Fashion industry essential  
  • Capable of working within a pressurized environment to tight deadlines
  • Confident and positive with solution-orientated outlook
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and be a self starter when required
  • Detail-orientated with good time management
