Role Responsibility

As a Social Media Art Director, you will support the Social Media Manager by leading the narrative and art direction for the Social Media team’s content creation. Working closely with the Social Media Strategist, the role will require a creative, commercial and analytical eye, as well as an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams across the business, including Selfridges Creative Direction, Fashion Direction, Multimedia Creative, Events, and Marketing as well as an amazing roster of brand partners. The Social Media Editor will be the gatekeeper of our tone of voice and brand aesthetic, responsible for creating and curating social-first thumb-stopping content across multiple categories, including Womenswear, Menswear, Beauty and Food, as well as brand campaigns.

As part of this, you will:

  • Develop the social media look and feel across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest for the UK and international markets, with the aim of increasing brand awareness, driving engagement and driving traffic to the website
  • Curate an exciting, consistent, always-developing stream of content to engage our existing audience and grow our follower base, while cementing our key legacy moments as a brand
  • Become a gatekeeper for the Social Media tone of voice across the team, ensuring it is aligned with the rest of the business
  • Maintain and challenge quality across all channels, ensuring it is of the highest standards across all content and is in keeping with our overall brand direction
  • Develop our social media storytelling, developing social-first narratives for our key campaigns, alongside our daily content
  • Brief and work alongside a matrix roster of talent within the business, across several departments including PR, Creative and Retail teams, leading by example
  • Brief and work with external brand partners and creatives on collaborations and co-created content
  • Work alongside the Social Media Manager and Strategist to analyse key data to inform strategic decisions and use creative testing to build insights, researching creative executions, social media developments, digital trends and emerging talent / influencers
  • Work alongside Social Media Manager and Strategist to implement a direction for social video and graphic treatments
  • Benchmark against key competitors and inspiring campaigns
  • Work with the PR team to reach out to influencers, creating a passionate community of ambassadors for the brand

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • We are looking for a social-first native with a background in Art Direction, Creative Styling, or digital content creation and extensive experience in video, still and graphic execution for social media
  • Proven track record working within a fast-paced social media team, leading content creation across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube 
  • This is a broad, exciting role that requires a passion for digital storytelling and a deep understanding of social content that resonates and inspires engagement
  • Proficient at using Adobe suite (specifically Photoshop and Premiere Pro) or equivalent software
  • A keen visual focus and enquiring mind for research and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Experience working cross-departmentally and representing the social agenda, conveying new concepts across departments
  • Confident copywriter with a flair for witty social captions
  • Fashion and Beauty experience essential  
  • Exceptional stakeholder management
  • Capable of working within a pressurized environment to tight deadlines
  • Confident and positive with solution-orientated outlook
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and be a self starter when required
  • Detail-orientated with good time management and capable of working to tight deadline
