Senior Stylist
Job Introduction
A Senior Visual Merchandiser – Styling plays a pivotal role in creating the customer experience that Selfridges is famous for. You will do this through creative and strategic styling and product presentation. You will balance creative and commercial objectives to deliver industry leading standards that both inspire and drive sales.
You will work as part of a larger team to deliver with the VM presentation of your area. Appreciating the importance of visual impact within retail, you strive to create and maintain innovative displays and excellent styling for our customers.
As a Senior Visual Merchandiser - Styling you will:
•Be responsible for the styling of the mannequins in the flagship store
•Complete floor walks each morning to check and maintain basic recovery standards of all mannequins and make sure that actions are carried out prior to store opening
•Consider both the internal and external customer in all activities, including presentation of trend, wearability and Selfridges pov and benchmarks against competitors
•Deliver exceptional aesthetic standards through creative and trend focussed product styling, both fashion and lifestyle.
•Be proactively involved in implementing themed installations within your departments, working within a close knit cross-functional team, where the product styling and presentation plays and integral role in the overall end result.
•Work closely with key contacts in Buying & Merchandising understand the buys and customer profiles per location to define styling direction with a Selfridges pov
•Work closely with the online styling team to develop a visual language between styling outputs.
•Work closely with key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure visual standards are maintained across own bought and concession spaces, specific to styling.
•Mentor and train VMs to drive industry leading standards in all elements of the role.
•Ensure all styling standards are consistent with brand identity, strategy and guidelines.
•Regularly perform comparative ‘shops’ of new and inspirational places to maintain an understanding and awareness of competition, direction and key brands
•Have weekly updates with the Stock Control team, ensuring stock is returned and booked back in, and communicate updates as required
•Ensure all product credits are maintained; including ordering, installation and delivering consistent standards
•Comply with Health & Safety standards, policies and procedures, demonstrating good standards in regard to your tools, equipment and environment
How you’ll do it…you will be ( Experience /Skillset required)
•
Strong understanding of fashion trends, colour theory and aesthetics to inform industry leading styling detail
•Strong brand knowledge to inform correct presentation of brands
•Creative. With a background in Art as an advantage, you are passionate about design and visual displays, with an understanding of their importance in a retail environment
•Strong styling experience, a good understanding of our brand mix, as well as brand adjacencies
•Have a strong eye for detail ensuring delivery of exceptional presentation standards
•Knowledge of designers, brands, trends and competitors. You will be up to date with trends and constantly looking for opportunities for this to inspire your work
•Organised and proactive. You are able to multi-task, prioritise and work to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
•Experienced. You are able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with previous experience in retail operations as well as exposure to VM
•Well Informed. You will develop excellent product knowledge by following trends and being aware of our competitor’s activity
•A great communicator. You work with your team to deliver results as well as work cross functionally
