Senior Technical SEO Manager

Role Responsibility

As Senior Technical SEO Manager, you will own and drive forward the technical SEO strategy to deliver against our technical SEO KPIs.

Sitting within the SEO Team and reporting to the Head of SEO, you will play a key role in driving the visibility growth of selfridges.com.  

This will involve being responsible for all aspects of technical SEO, from BAU development activity through to involvement in wider business projects as the subject matter expert.

You will work with multiple stakeholders, including our development teams, SEO agency and other stakeholders, ensuring you remain informed and consulted on key projects taking place outside of SEO development.

As the Senior Technical SEO Manager, you will also:

  • Own and develop the technical SEO roadmap
  • Act as the technical SEO champion ensuring stakeholders understand how their activity can influence technical SEO
  • Manage the end-to-end workstream from audit, sizing and prioritisation through to development and measurement
  • Monitor and report on site health and performance against technical SEO KPIs
  • Monitor and analyse organic data to identify issues and opportunities, as well as assessing optimisation outcomes and competitor activity
  • Work closely with product owners, developers and other stakeholders to clearly define SEO requirements and to continually educate on SEO best practice
  • Lead training sessions, manage the training plan and maintain training materials
  • Maintain Selfridges technical backlog and SEO documentation
  • Keep abreast of SEO industry updates, guidelines and technologies to maintain best practice across all activities

The Ideal Candidate

  • 4-5 years in a dedicated SEO role
  • You will have a well-rounded knowledge of SEO best practices and have specialised in technical SEO for at least 3 years
  • Track record of delivering positive results on large-scale, international, e-commerce websites is essential
  • Working knowledge of HTML/JS/CSS
  • Experienced in log file analysis to identify crawl issues
  • Experienced in defining and implementing complex development initiatives
  • Experience working with industry leading SEO and data tools such as Botify, Pi Datametrics, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Data Studio and Jira

 

Desired skills:

  • Technically minded, self-motivated and results driven, with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for technical SEO
  • Highly analytical and experienced in using data to inform strategy and prioritisation e.g. confident in forecasting and building business cases
  • Confident working with large data sets and an advanced user of Excel
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex technical problems and solutions to multiple stakeholders in layman’s terms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships across the business
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills, enabling you to work across various workstreams and manage multiple deadlines
