SEO Content Writer

Role Responsibility

As an SEO Content Writer, you will be producing engaging, creative and informative content, helping to build our reputation as an authority in the luxury retail space, supporting categories such as fashion, beauty, jewellery and homeware.

Sitting within the SEO Team and reporting to the Head of SEO, you will play a key role in delivering content that meets the needs of our online customers.

You will work independently at a fast pace, writing compelling category page copy and editorial features, in line with our Selfridges tone of voice across all divisions, ensuring copy is brand-enhancing and consumer-focused.

You will manage your own workload juggling research, writing, editing and uploading of copy to meet strict deadlines.

You will also be required to liaise with multiple stakeholders, acting as the SEO Team’s point of contact for category copy requests, as well as proactively sharing your knowledge of on-page SEO best practice.

 

As a SEO Content Writer , you will also: 

  • Perform thorough brand/category/keyword/trends research to inform your copy
  • Create and update category page header copy
  • Create editorial copy
  • Support with content reviews and auditing
  • Work on other ad hoc copy related projects as required
  • Keep abreast of seasonal fashion trends and maintain good brand knowledge
  • Keep abreast of SEO industry updates
  • Act as the guardian of the Selfridges tone of voice across all copy, ensuring consistency and quality for our customers
  • Act as the champion for SEO optimised content across the site, ensuring best practice is adhered to without impacting user experience

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a copywriting/journalism/content role (ideally fashion/lifestyle writing)
  • Experience in an ecommerce/fashion environment
  • Experience with content management systems and workflow management
  • Educated to degree level in a related subject (e.g. English/Fashion/Media), or equivalent in a communications-related discipline
  • Experienced in researching and writing content based on SEO data and best practice principles
  • Understanding of search engine algorithms and how they can impact rankings
  • Experience working with industry leading SEO tools such as Pi Datametrics, SEMrush, Google Search Console and Google Keyword Planner
  • An accomplished and experienced writer with genuine passion and enthusiasm for the English language, with impeccable grammar and meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills, enabling you to work to strict deadlines whilst maintaining high standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently across multiple workstreams
  • Strong awareness of fashion trends and in-depth brand knowledge
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and how to apply them at scale
  • Understanding of the principles of digital PR and outreach for SEO a bonus
  • PC literate in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
