Senior International Marketing Manager

Role Responsibility

The Senior International Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of Selfridges’ customer marketing activity targeting international customers, to deliver against the business’s objectives to grow international awareness and sales.

 

As the Senior International Marketing Manager, you will

•Drive a customer centric marketing strategy for international (specifically Greater China and the Middle East), drawing on our core values and positioning Selfridges as a unique, world class destination that stands for a sustainable future and is inclusive for all. 

•Manage the planning and execution of key international campaigns – partnering closely with the relevant Customer Marketing, CRM, Communications, PR, Social, Retail, and Creative teams to plan, integrate and align delivery of marketing activity – both in international markets and targeting in-bound tourists in the UK.

•Work cross-functionally with teams, ensuring key stakeholders across Customer Marketing & Insight and International teams understand the marketing strategy

•Manage International 3rd party partner relationships, including payment providers, travel partners and media partners.

•Manage China Assistant Manager, overseeing their management of our China social marketing channel strategy and communications plan

•Update the wider business on performance of international marketing campaigns and activations, informing Retail, Creative and Editorial teams of best practice during key cultural and customer moments. 

•Partner with the CRM and Insight teams to develop better customer insight and customer KPI measurement/tracking activity for international customer segments.  Tailors this to international channels and uses insights to inform strategy and execution.

•Manage budgeting, periodic reforecasting and refinement of budgets in line with Financial Calendar for international activity.

•Monitor the marketplace, competitor marketing activity and keeps the wider business informed of key competitor marketing strategy innovations, industry initiatives and key developments aimed at the international customer.

•Manage and assists the development of China Assistant Marketing Manager.

The Ideal Candidate

•A strong strategic marketing leader with experience ideally gained from a large multi-channel retail business in the premium/luxury sector with a significant international customer base.

•Experienced across the marketing and media landscape for premium customer segments in Greater China, Middle East

•Experienced working with China communications channels.

•Able to manage senior stakeholders, peers and work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation

•Effective at turning strategy into actionable marketing plans.

•Able to work at pace paying attention to the detail​ with a strong execution and delivery orientation - able to plan, manage and adapt multiple projects at the same time.

•Mandarin speaking highly recommended

•Knowledgeable on the full marketing mix – able to plan and execute campaigns across both traditional and digital media, using an integrated combination of paid search, affiliate and influencer channels, digital display media, relevant local social media, events and animations etc.

•An expert in measuring delivery of marketing plans against customer KPIs.

•Highly organised with an ability to multi-task, prioritise and work to tight deadlines

•Excellent at numeracy and analytical skills and have the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and information into concise recommendations and action for the company.

•Intelligent, collaborative, open and transparent – able to navigate the organisation and to be comfortable with ambiguity.

•Commercially ‘savvy’ with good negotiation and vendor management skills.

•Aware of all competitor activity including product offerings and events

•Experience of managing direct reports desirable.
