Senior Editorial Copywriter

Role Responsibility

The Senior Editorial Copywriter reports to the Managing Editor and sits in the Customer Planning team.  It is responsible for the overseeing consistent copy across all of our owned and paid channels. With a strategic, audience-focussed approach, they are instrumental in shaping and communicating Selfridges’ perspective on across channels through commercially focussed, brand appropriate copy. 

As Senior Copywriter, you will:

- Create copy for articles, CRM emails, site copy, organic and paid social content, and app pushes to reflect the Selfridges Tone of Voice, as set and monitored by Creative Direction

- Work with CRM team to optimise copy to drive customer engagement

- Ensure consistency of copy tone across all channels including CRM, Website, SEO, Social and other Paid Media

- Support the editorial team with sub- editing copy.

- Work with planning teams to drive efficiencies in the copy production processes.

- Provide editorial support for top brand partnerships ensuring a Selfridges brand lens is applied alongside Customer voice

The Ideal Candidate

- A brand fan – with belief in our goal to reinvent retail and create a sustainable future

- A customer first advocate – with passion to understand them intricately and champion the voice within the business

- Be a strong ideator with excellent writing skills who has a good understanding of the content that drives audience engagement across Digital and Editorial Platforms and channels, including website, magazine, email, social media. 

- Have experience overseeing copy content for a retailer.

- Have good knowledge of the fashion and beauty industries, as well as content and channel trends and insights

- Have excellent writing and communication skills.

- An interest in developing original content formats and experience bringing ideas to life from initial concept to screen.

- An understanding of what will entice audiences to engage with content and provide consistent new ideas and concepts as well as ways to optimise.  

- Good knowledge of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, with an understanding of the types of content that resonate with audiences on each platform.

- Willingness and ability to use data to inform decisions, and plan work to reflect business priorities. 

- Experience using CMS, analytics platforms and project management tools.

- Ability to work to deadlines and react quickly to requests with fast turnaround times.
