Quality Engineer

Role Responsibility

We're seeking an experienced "Quality Engineer" to join our growing team and contribute to cutting-edge initiatives. Quality is fundamental to our delivery process, and this is instrumental to lead and deliver the advancement of continuous testing within our delivery teams.​

Candidate is expected to have a strong Retail and Quality Engineering background. We are committed to enhancing the quality of our products and customer experiences, so the role is expected to collaborate with engineering and delivery counterparts to foster a 'shift left' mindset within the squad. ​

QEs will be integrated into one of our agile delivery squads, with some working across different geographic locations, including 3rd-party locations. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with your squad members within a highly cooperative agile team. Effective communication skills are essential, as the role is expected to drive and participate a wide range of technical and non-technical discussions with various stakeholders.​

Above all, we seek a proactive self-starter who can champion Shift Left QE practices within the squad. Candidates interpersonal skills, energy, discipline, and enthusiasm to contribute to an engaging and innovative environment will make them a valuable addition to our team. ​

This role can be based in London or Leicester. .​

You will: ​

Quality Engineer responsibilities will include shaping a well-structured QA approach tailored to the squad's specific delivery initiatives.​

Responsible for defining and testing the Quality of the solution for the  initiatives within the sourcing & supply chain squads/delivery team. This role involves tasks such as outlining test plans and approaches, creating test automation scripts, data ,  developing frameworks and reports, as well as providing testing support throughout the solution's implementation across all environments up to production.​

  • The QE will work with the delivery team participating in all estimation and planning sessions, defining test approach, and creating acceptance test criteria.​

  • Bring value to requirements engineering (such as three-amigos conversations) to prevent quality issues arising from vague, inconsistent, or untestable requirements​

  • Working with Product Managers and Engineers to identify and create in sprint Automated Test cases (Unit/Functional/Integration/UI)​

  • Ability to pair with developers, read code, to provide informed comment on unit tests and their relationship to identified risks and prevent defects early in the lifecycle.​

  • Support DevOps implementations through delivery of CI aligned test automation scripts​

  • Work with other QEs to create & manage automation reports and regularly communicate to the team and wider stakeholders.​

  • Be vocal in your opinions and approach to testing with the ability to shift engineering mindsets around ownership, quality, and trust.

 

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Competent at programming one or more languages JavaScript, Python, or Java.​

  • Hands on experience in development of test automation scripts by following BDD methodology​

  • Good hands-on experience in API, MiddleWare & Microservices test automation.​

  • Comfortable using GitHub actions / Jenkins pipelines.​

  • Individual should be proficient in using developer’s pipeline tools such as JEST, SonarQube, OWASP Zap.​

  • Considerable experience on mocking and stubbing 3rd party applications​

  • Hands on experience in maintaining test scripts and reporting using any test management tool. (Zephyr, JIRA etc) ​

  • Experienced with different delivery lifecycles and service delivery methods​

  • Solid understanding of the Testing Pyramid and its implementation in a Shift Left team. ​

  • Strong experience of working in Agile delivery teams using Scrum or Kanban as well as XP engineering techniques. ​

  • Display strong working experience in the sourcing and supply chain area utilising both exploratory and automated test techniques​

  • Having good functional and product knowledge of Merchandising, Forecasting, Pricing and Promotions, Product Buying, Warehouse Management, Store Inventory Management, Fulfilment from Store, Replenishment/Allocations solutions​

  • Knowledge on some of these Retail products likes Automic, STEP, Red Prairie and Matflo, M-Netics IM2, Metapack, Oracle Retail Order Management/Order Broker is required for the role. ​

  • Familiarity of middleware applications like SOA/ODI/MFT and MQ/IIB is desirable for this role​
