Role Responsibility

WHAT IS THE ROLE…

 

As a Portfolio Lead within the Strategic Portfolio Team (formerly known as the PMO), you will be accountable for providing insight and foresight to Selfridge’s technology initiatives. Your focus will be on initiatives flowing through projects and programmes, delivered through a combination of iterative and traditional programme delivery methods.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO…

 

Build and use insight to support an environment of continuous review, to improve the flow of work through the system. You’ll work with the programme leadership teams in refining their production line for greater efficiency and less waste.

 

Provide assurance that the portfolio is aligned to business targets.  You’ll support development of a model to clearly align initiatives with strategy throughout their life cycle, from idea to measurable value.  You’ll champion a meaningful understanding of the ‘why’ of the initiatives within the teams

 

Develop and maintain a fit-for-purpose, data-driven assurance model for bi-modal delivery through programme-led initiatives. You’ll provide insight and foresight to the programme leadership teams and to business sponsors to support successful delivery of initiatives against their cost / time / quality constraints.

 

Support definition and implementation of a fit-for-purpose governance model that promotes empowerment of the delivery teams, with appropriate assurance and a clear framework for decision making.

 

Support implementation of prioritisation & decision boundaries frameworks

 

Mentor and coach members of the Strategic Portfolio Team

 

The role includes standard Portfolio Management Office accountabilities:  input to regular stakeholder updates, risks, issues and dependencies view across the portfolio, liaison with Finance for benefit and cost management and maintenance of a holistic roadmap.

The Ideal Candidate

HOW YOU’LL DO IT – YOU WILL BE EXPERIENCED IN:

 

Portfolio level delivery assurance, including senior level stakeholder updates, dependencies / risks / issues coordination across multiple programmes

 

Data modelling a portfolio of work in a bi-modal environment

 

Strategy alignment frameworks, and goal-driven delivery (e.g. OKRs or similar)

 

Prioritisation methodologies at portfolio and enterprise level in an agile environment

 

Programme delivery methodologies at scale

YOU WILL HAVE…

Very effective personal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.

 

Excellent communications skills. Influence is key to this role.

 

A creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view. You demonstrate tenacity in the face of obstacles.

 

A strong data-driven approach

 

Curiosity. You enjoy exploring new concepts and learning, both in terms of ways of working and functional business areas.

 

A burning desire to do what’s right for the customer.
