Role Responsibility

The Food Technical team support the Food & Restaurants Division by ensuring we sell and serve food and drink in the most safe and legal way possible.  The NPD Technologist will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team and our suppliers to deliver Selfridges Own label products of the highest possible quality.

As NDP Technologist you will:

• Support the NPD team, providing sound product and packaging guidance in line with relevant legislation and industry best practice.
• Manage Own Label product specifications.
• Proof-read product labels as part of the artwork approval process.
• Write key stakeholder reports related to performance
• Support continuous product improvement by running product sensory sessions.
• Assist small artisanal suppliers to develop and deliver compliant products in compliant packaging.
• Help us build a sustainable future by supporting our sustainability targets.

The Ideal Candidate

• Passionate about food, food quality and safety standards.
• Knowledgeable about food composition, food microbiology and nutritional profiles.
• A good collaborator, with highly effective communication skills.
• Great when analysing data and writing reports – with attention to detail as a key strength.
• Delighted by the opportunity to problem solve and highly capable when applying critical thinking.
• Methodical in your ways of working yet adaptable and flexible to change.
• Decidedly able to use your initiative especially wen planning and prioritising your workload and tasks.
• Able to lead those who you are not directly responsible for.
• A champion of Food Safety Culture.
• An advocate for inclusion in what you say and in what you do.
