Role Responsibility

As the Learning & Development Manager for the Tech and Product teams, you will be shaping and implementing our learning strategy to support the Selfridges Tech and Product Transformation, ensuring we have the skills and capability we need now and in the future. You will report to the Learning & Development Lead and work with stakeholders across the Technology team, alongside the L&D and wider HR Function.​

As the L&D Manager for Tech and Product you will:​

  • Collaborate with the Technology and Product Leadership teams to develop targeted learning plans for both specific teams and the broader function to develop, engage and retain talent.​

  • Support the Chapter and Domain Heads in identifying both current and future capability needs and collaborate to shape strategies to build the skills and behaviours needed for the future across the relevant teams.​

  • Contribute to shape and manage the Tech and Product training investment plan to maximise the budget available to empower and enable our teams to build customer-centric solutions.​

  • Design and deliver a Tech and Product onboarding journey that inspires and engages new team members with the Tech Transformation and enables them to understand how we work and their role effectively.​

  • Promote user engagement of our learning platforms Pluralsight & Cloud Guru, ensuring managers and team members are able to maximise the platform to build current and future skills. ​

  • Identify Tech and Product skills learning trends and propose future opportunities that enable the Selfridges learning offer to deliver customer-centric learning solutions for the Technology team.​

  • Support the development of career pathways across the Tech and Product teams and supporting learning journeys.​

  • Own the promotion of the learning offer with the Tech and Product teams, proactively driving relevant engagement and using analysis to share insight, and identify further opportunities for engagement and learning to Leaders.​

  • Design and implement learning initiatives that develop the skills, behaviours and mindsets needed to support Agile ways of working across the Tech and Product teams.​

  • Identify and propose opportunities to develop digital skills and mindsets across Selfridges to support collaboration and ways of working across functions at Selfridges and deepen knowledge and understanding of the wider impact of the Tech and Product Transformation.​

The Ideal Candidate

  • An experienced Learning & Development professional within Tech and Product: An expert in your field, you’ll have a strong background in learning within a Tech environment, understanding best practice and how it can achieve ROI as well as reinforce business goals. You will already be working with a Learning Management System (LMS). You’ll have experience of working with Tech teams with knowledge and experience of technology capability development. ​

  • Tech and Product Knowledge & Experience: You will have experience of working within an organisation undergoing Tech transformation, creating targeted capability plans that support transformation and skilling up for Cloud. You will have previous experience utilising a number of different delivery methodologies and best practice (Agile, Scrum, Devops, Continuous Delivery, Product Engineering Methodology).​

  • Design Focussed: You are confident and experienced in blended learning design. You have a close attention to detail and experience of working within brand guidelines.​

  • Customer-focused:  You put your customers at the heart of everything you do, adapting changing needs and catering to a variety of audiences.​

  • Forward thinking: You take a forward-thinking, commercial and collaborative approach to projects. Having the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational management, making sure projects are delivered effectively.​

  • Flexible: You’re able to manage multiple and varied learning projects simultaneously, proactively managing expectations and constantly adjusting priorities to business needs and comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.​

  • Stakeholder management & communication: You will have excellent communication skills, able to adapt your style to inspire and influence multiple stakeholders, across various functions, at levels up to Exec -1. You understand the need to build and maintain relationships across the business, proactively seeking and giving effective feedback and can positively challenge when needed.​

  • Creativity: You take a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and learning solution creation that inspires our customers and effectively meets our learning goals.
