Insight Manager (FTC)
Role Responsibility
The Strategy & Insight team aims to put the customer at the centre of decision making and business strategy by providing insights which further our understanding of our customers.
Reporting to the Strategy & Insights Lead, the Insight Manager is responsible for the delivery of ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative customer research projects on strategic areas such as brand perception, customer experience and sustainability. Examples of recent focus areas include: exploring how customers engage with fashion rental, resale and repair; bringing customers food shopping behaviours to life to inform the design of our physical stores; measuring Selfridges’ brand health.
Using a combination of customer data, primary research and industry insights, the Senior Customer Insight Manager delivers impactful reports and presentations which drive action and provoke change, ultimately supporting Selfridges’ vision to reinvent retail.
As an Insight Manager, you will:
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their business challenges and insight needs, translating these into clear research briefs.
Manage a number of strategic customer insight projects, recommending appropriate methodologies and suppliers.
Support the Senior Manager – Strategy & Insights with the delivery of larger strategic insight projects.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research which enables a richer understanding of our customer base and segments within it.
Provide customer insight on our brand health and competitive positioning to inform conversations on communications and media strategy.
Support with the management of research agencies and other third-party suppliers.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Procurement, Legal, Info Sec, Finance, etc.) to facilitate the on-boarding of third-party suppliers.
Collate and analyse data from multiple sources to produce robust and insightful outputs.
Combine evidence, customer understanding and commercial practicality to inform business strategy and decision-making.
Inspire colleagues and stakeholders through creative and engaging deliverables and impactful storytelling.
Collaborate with the wider community of analysts within Strategy & Insight and in other departments such as CRM, Digital Operations, UX, etc.
Actively engage with external practitioners and research trade bodies to ensure we remain up to date with latest techniques and best practice.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience of market research or customer insight on either the client or agency side
Experience in qualitative approaches, discussion guide design, interview moderation and analysis
Experience in quantitative research methods, questionnaire design, and data analysis essential
Experience of using survey tools to build and deploy questionnaires desirable
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, creating advanced formulae and charts
Comfortable working with large and complex data sets to interpret trends and draw clear conclusions
Capable of extracting insight from multiple sources to create compelling and coherent stories
The ability to collaborate with and influence business departments and third parties
Ability to learn quickly and respond to changing business priorities and requirements
Rigorous and analytical with meticulous attention to detail
Capable of creatively bringing insights to life through storytelling and data visualisation
Strong commercial awareness
A confident communicator with strong influencing skills
