Role Responsibility

As an experienced Indirect Tax Manager you will be tax responsibility for indirect tax both from an advisory and compliance perspective. You will provide support to and work in collaboration with other teams, including legal, supply chain, finance and commercial teams.  You will also be responsible for indirect tax governance.

You will be responsible for all indirect taxes, both UK and overseas regimes, including the US and emerging regimes.  As the manager you will provide advice to Selfridges teams, own indirect tax audits and governance, and have oversight of all indirect tax return filings ensuring compliance with rules in each jurisdiction. Your will be a key business partner supporting commercial and customer transactions, providing indirect tax advice to the business.

•Providing advice on transactions, product file taxability and customer orders

•Review, validation and approval of indirect tax filings / payments

•Identifying and disclosing indirect tax reporting anomalies, and enhancing processes to address / mitigate errors, as well as identifying and securing VAT cash-flow benefits

•Working with the business to inform and prepare for new regimes

•Respond to and support Tax Authorities enquiries

•Review and support cash-flow modelling

•Enhancing controls and supporting governance framework

•Review and update processes to support the compliance process and timetable

•Support for and liaison with the tax and finance teams

•Managing a team of two junior team members

The role will also involve providing wider ITX support to the tax team including the identification of implementation of potential cost savings from the current processes and will have exposure to other tax regimes across the Group providing development opportunities / progression.

The Ideal Candidate

•Experience. An experienced VAT / ITX manager looking to take on a role with a global remit. ATT / CTA preferred

•Technical. You will have worked in an advisory role, either in-house or practice for at least 5-years; recent experience of global indirect tax regimes, including US sales tax is beneficial

•Previous customs experience would be an advantagr.

•Experience of working on governance and developing future strategy would be an advantage;

•Skills. Technical research and building controls

•A good communicator. You will be able to adapt to, and communicate and work with, a variety of individuals and teams across tax, finance and the wider business at differing levels;

•Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to a high standard, managing workload to meet deadlines;

•Adaptable. You will have the ability to prioritise and multi-task and be comfortable with deadlines

•Process driven. You will be able to follow established process and identify enhancements.

•Personable, with the ability to influence and gain the trust and respect of people at all levels quickly and across the entire business;

•Able to manage own workload and keep others informed;
