IT Service Transition Lead

Job Introduction

The Service Transition Lead is responsible for ensuring the successful transition of services from project phase (including ongoing BAU change) to normal operational support.

They will help deal lead and drive to completion all aspects of a solution related to Service Transition, liaising with all required Project Teams, Suppliers and Internal Teams.

Role Responsibility

The Service Transition Lead reports to the Service Delivery Manager and will work with project managers and project teams across Selfridges IT to ensure that all Service Transition elements of a proposed solution are documented, approved, tested and delivered. They will work closely with Architecture, Business Analysis, Testing, Release & Environments, Infrastructure and Service Support teams as appropriate. Building good relationships with the Service Delivery teams and Suppliers will be key.

This role requires a strong technical understanding, with the ability to support Selfridge’s internal customers, checking and signing-off the delivery of all Service Transition elements. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a standard approach for new/amended application or infrastructure change to move from project phase to acceptance by the Service Support Team
  • Work with the Service Delivery Manager to continuously review and improve the existing Service Transition Framework that encompasses all the requirements for a service handover
  • Liaises with the relevant teams for operational standards i.e. Release Management, Service Support and Infrastructure Support; and delivers in line with expectation and to a standard approach
  • Develops and maintains key business relationships through project work and ongoing BAU change
  • Works with internal support teams and Project Managers to ensure SLA adherence following project implementation or changes are highlighted and agreed
  • Leads a transition approach for care and maintenance activities in line with development and support teams
  • Ensure project teams include Service Delivery team members to own the delivery of Service Transition for individual projects or BAU changes.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience

  • Ability to demonstrate Service Transition experience across several IT projects
  • Good understanding and experience of Operational and Project Management principles
  • Process and Procedure experience (development and implementation)
  • Experience of fast paced delivery environments with competing priorities
  • Previous retail e-commerce experience is desirable.

 

Qualifications/Training/Technical Skills

  • Strong process knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
