IT Business Analyst (POS Systems)
Role Responsibility
A as a business analysis you will analyse and review current ways of working across the business or within a business domain, define and shape new business solutions, and be responsible for the requirements definition and analysis for new exciting initiatives.
As part of this, you will:
Plan and estimate the business analysis activities and deliverables required within a given project or initiative
Clearly define and document the business problem or opportunity, and actively contribute to establishing the business case and gaining commitment to the change
Carry out stakeholder analysis, working with the business / product owners and change team to define stakeholder maps and contribute to the communication and engagement plans
Identify and define the business requirements using multiple techniques including (but not limited to) engaging workshops, observation, interviews and creation of workflow models
Ensure that all business requirements are well structured, clear and defined, with each business requirement having valid and complete acceptance criteria
Manage the risks and issues associated with business requirements definition and the broader business analysis activities, ensuring that the overall solution remains fit for purpose
Manage and track requirements as they move from discovery through to implementation. Identify when new requirements change the scope of the overall solution and ensure that the appropriate change control processes are followed, including accurate impact assessment
For each business solution, validate the testing strategy and the test scenarios defined by the QA team. Ensure the appropriate level of test coverage is in place and that exception scenarios are well thought through
Actively support the OAT, UAT, training and implementation activities (including warranty)
Fully understand the implementation of existing solutions within the domain and how they fit with the overall systems architecture
You will report to a Senior Business Analyst and work closely with the broader IT community and third parties.
The Ideal Candidate
A successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience as a business analyst working within Retail, with knowledge and experience working with Point of Sale / Service (POS) systems.
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written, with a strong ability to tell stories and present information so that it is engaging, well structured and appropriate for the given audience. This includes requirements definition and playback to multiple stakeholders, business solution design - including business process, logical data models, use cases, user stories and UI design
Experience implementing or re-platforming Point of Sale (POS) systems such as Retail-J, Xstore, or Enactor in a Retail context.
A clear, logical thinker who demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills
Consistently develops and maintains strong, long term relationships with Stakeholders
Must be able to understand business change needs, assess the impact of those changes capturing, analysing and documenting requirements
Strong appreciation for user experience and evidences clear customer focus
