Role Responsibility

To provide commercial insight and own the end-to-end business partnering and finance support for key business areas. You will own the budgeting, forecasting and month end processes for the respective area. Alongside trade support, business case management, commercial analysis and balance sheet management. You will be responsible for the management and development of at least one analyst whilst also being a Business Partner to senior stakeholders, including Directors and their Leadership teams.

  • The role will help identify opportunities for productivity, and help the business have insight into the operational targets and how they translate to the financials.
  • The role will look at variances to budgets and forecasts and help give insight into key drivers in the results.
  • The role will also be partnering on the strategic direction of their business areas, helping to turn a direction into a financial plan and then to measure against targets, with a focus on customer service targets as well as financial.

All areas of focus will include managing the month end process, owning the P&L lines and Balance Sheet reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing analysis and providing insight and recommendations to the senior teams to drive sustainable growth
  • Month end reviews with Director and senior leadership team to understand the overall performance in the period and YTD vs. Plan, Forecast & LY, focusing on KPI’s and highlighting risk & opportunities
  • Deliver monthly exec summaries of productivity challenges, providing understanding and analysis to support performance and assumptions of risk & opportunities.
  • Review and manage relevant balance sheets to understand the asset & liability position, using this to identify any risks/opportunities
  • Taking ownership and produce detailed budgets and a reforecast, engaging with the relevant budget holders as appropriate, to review performance and provide challenge where necessary
  • Supporting Finance Analyst’s growth & development through on the job training & coaching in order to help them to progress to Finance Manager level in time

The Ideal Candidate

Key skills

  • Have a recognised accountancy qualification
  • Have 5+ years experience in industry
  • A high standard of accuracy with excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • Ability to work under pressure; manage a diverse and competing workload and to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Commercially aware with the ability to appreciate impact of decisions on the financials
  • Excellent communication/ interpersonal and influencing skills
  • PC skills (excel/ word/ powerpoint)
  • Flexible and able to work in a changeable, dynamic environment
  • Proactive – responsible for management of own priorities
  • Gravitas – personality to deal with and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Experience of accounting for projects across both Capex and Opex
