Role Responsibility

This role is a 12 month FTC

Selfridges’ finance team based in Leicester focuses on financial accounting, audit and accounting for a number of areas of the balance sheet, including fixed assets, debtors, creditors, cash, tax and pensions.

The Finance Analyst reports to the Finance Manager and assists with accounting across a broad range of areas, although with a particular focus on leases and property costs, and on assisting in the production of year-end statutory accounts.

As a Finance Analyst you will:

Account for Selfridges’ property costs across all its stores and offices, including producing forecasts, budgets, monthly management accounts and variance analysis.

Account for Selfridges’ property leases, ensuring the correct application of IFRS 16.

Assist the Finance Manager with the production of year-end financial statements and management of the external audit process.

Assist the Finance Manager and the wider Leicester finance team with accounting and reporting relating to debtors, creditors, cash, tax and pensions.

Work on system and process improvement projects, particularly those relating to improving our accounting for fixed assets.

Be an active member of the finance team in the Leicester office; working on ad-hoc projects and pitching in and helping out across the team as required.

The Ideal Candidate

A qualified accountant, or part qualified and in the later stages of qualifying, with experience of producing financial accounts under IFRS and of dealing with auditors.

Knowledgeable of the requirements for accounting for leases under IFRS 16.

Experienced in producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.

Experienced in developing and improving systems, working procedures and processes.

Have strong analytical and Excel skills with experience in working with large quantities of data from multiple sources.

Be either from a strong retail background or have experience of working within a fast paced, commercial environment.

Able to work under pressure and manage a diverse and competing workload ensuring deadlines are met.

Highly organised and efficient.
