Role Responsibility

The EA – Data & Analytics role is responsible for owning the definition, management and evolution of the technology strategy and roadmap for Selfridges Data and Analytics solutions. This includes data lakes, data warehouse(s), metrics store and business intelligence, data hubs, artificial intelligence & machine learning, data science, and cognitive & stream analytics technologies. The role also aids efforts to improve business performance through enterprise capabilities such as master data management, metadata management, content management, data integration, and related information management activities. The role collaborates closely with the Head of Architecture and broader IT senior leadership team, along with technology domain owners and senior business stakeholders in order to maximise the value of our data assets through their creation, access and use.

As an Enterprise Architect you will

Lead the definition, management and alignment of the Data & Analytics platform strategy and long-term roadmap, in line with the broader business and technology strategy. This includes ensuring that all agreed outcomes are baked into the appropriate delivery plans.

Be responsible for the analysis of technology trends in the domain to determine their potential impact on the business, proactively identifying opportunities that will enable Selfridges to meet its business and technology goals at pace. This includes the shaping of and participation in technology selection processes for the given domain.

Define and manage all Architecture Blueprints, Standards and Policies for the given domains. Ensure that these are accessible, agreed, clear and current.

Assure all designs and confirm alignment with the agreed strategy. Ensure that all designs are well documented and have full traceability through the engineering lifecycle in order to maintain overall solution integrity.

Build strong relationships with the broader technology team and key business stakeholders. This includes promoting architecture ways of working, the desired outcomes and their business benefits. Ensure that opportunities for improvement are identified and actioned.

The Ideal Candidate

Experienced. A strong background in leading strategy, architecture, design and delivery of: data lakes and modern enterprise data warehouse, business intelligence, data hubs, AI & ML (including NLP), data science, data engineering, cognitive & real time analytics, and delivery experience of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics use cases.

Technical. You will have practitioner level knowledge in all areas of the domain, with expert knowledge in at least three. You will also have demonstrable knowledge and skills in architecture storytelling, modelling and management.

Passionate and knowledgeable about technology architecture and modern computing, with the ability to translate business needs into architecture requirements and to recommend options - including solution fit, evolution over time and total cost of ownership.

A natural leader and dynamic team player. You will have the ability to manage, influence and coach direct reports, peers and external stakeholders in an engaging and collaborative manner. This includes providing positive and inspiring development feedback when appropriate.

Consensus driving and highly organised. You will have the proven ability to bring together cross-functional and cross-organisational teams to work together to define the future, align on outcomes, agree architecture and designs, and embed effectively into delivery plans.

An excellent communicator and storyteller, both verbal and written. You excel in the relationships you build with stakeholders and are adept at flexing your style to match the audience. You are able to engage and inspire both technical teams and business stakeholders (at different levels of the organisation).

You are an exceptional problem solver, highly skilled at abstraction and decomposition, and driving elegant and simple solutions.

Strategic. You are able to effectively balance the long-term vision and goals with the need to opportunity and value swiftly.
