Role Responsibility

The Food & Home Editor leads content across our digital channels in the eponymous categories. With a strategic, audience-focused approach, they shape and communicate Selfridges’ point of view on Food and Home through storytelling and product curation. They represent Selfridges at our own customer-facing activations and industry events. ​

Key Responsibilities:​

  • Positioning Selfridges at the forefront of the Food and Home categories through researching and generating new cross-platform franchise ideas, as well as cultivating and maintaining key relationships within the industry​
  • To create and oversee Home and Food content in line with Selfridges’ social first content strategy​
  • Workshop, develop and write product copy for a number of Selfridges’ own brand ranges, including Selfridges Selection food​
  • Managing the Food and Home content calendar ensuring it aligns with Selfridges’ business priorities ​
  • Partnering with the Food and Home Social Media Manager to create social-first content based on Selfridges’ content strategy​
  • Ensure all content ladders up to our business-wide Sustainability Strategy, through both product curation and approach to content​
  • Act as Creative content representative for Selfridges-own Food and Home projects across the business, such as Selfridges Selection, new services, etc ​
  • Ensure selfridges.com content is optimised and SEO friendly ​
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with the Social, Art Direction and Design teams to ensure Home and Food content is delivered smoothly and to brief ​
  • Acts as an ambassador for the business at all times

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working in digital media or advertising in an editorial / copywriting capacity ​
  • Experience working in the food industry, with strong contacts ​
  • Experience in food brand copywriting​
  • A keen understanding of the role culture and experience play in retail​
  • A healthy social media presence and deep understanding of the digital/social media landscape​


The Ideal Candidate​

This is a role that combines a deep understanding of the worlds of food and interiors, a flair for writing, an original take on brand content and excellent people skills to be able to form strong relationships with key business stakeholders facilitating the best-informed content approach.​
