Dock Marshal (37.5 hours)

Job Introduction

As a Dock Marshall you will be responsible for the main operations of our loading dock. We receive a vast amount of deliveries every day. The role of the Dock Marshall is to work as part of a team to ensure our deliveries are received within the correct time frame, and that they are unloaded and processed efficiently by the correct teams. This can often be a busy role, where the ability to problem solve and maintain high standards of housekeeping is important for the smooth operation of the loading dock.

As a Dock Marshall you will:

  • Organise and prioritise deliveries coming in and out of the loading dock to ensure all deliveries are received on time, ensuring deliveries are turned around in the correct time frame in order to limit waiting times
  • Maintain a clear loading dock, ensuring all back of house areas and fire exits are kept clear
  • Support the team in peak periods in effective management of the loading bay
  • Regularly communicate with the stock movement and admin teams to ensure all functions are aware of incoming deliveries and any issues, such as delays or deliveries that were not received
  • Understand and follow health, safety and security procedures, and play an active role in educating others of these policies and processes

A bit about you:

  • Well Organised. You will be able to prioritise your workload and work on multiple requests at one given time. You will also ensure all deliveries are accounted for and tracked in the appropriate way
  • A great communicator. You will be working closely with various functions to ensure all remain informed of deliveries and timescales, pre-empting any issues and suggesting solutions
  • Collaborative. You will work closely with multiple teams to ensure the safe guarding of stock, prevent loss and ensure product remains in a sellable condition while being processed through the loading dock
  • Adaptable. The ability to work independently as well as collaborate across the wider team. You understand the need to shift working priorities due to competing deadlines and changing priorities
  • Approachable. You will be happy to offer your help and support to the wider team
  • A solutions focused individual with the ability to review ways of working and suggest improvements.
  • An example of our values, a trusted and respected colleague
