Role Responsibility

A key role within the Selfridges Store Design team that plays a vital part of the creative driving force within the physical spaces at Selfridges. The CAD Operator role will fulfil key functions within the Selfridges Design Team. To produce accurate drawing data, design guidelines and phasing drawings. To maintain and manage digital drawing data for all Selfridges sites. To provide CAD and planning support for feasibility and Strategic projects, all drawn to a highly presentable standard.

As the CAD operator you will:

  • Produce accurate drawing data, design guidelines and phasing drawings for issue within the business.
  • Maintain key CAD drawing templates, ensuring high quality accuracy and presentation.
  • Create clean, consistent CAD drawings which are clear for internal and external use
  • Maintain digital drawing data for all Selfridges sites (individual responsible for specific areas). Check survey and amend Selfridges base survey and all relevant working drawings
  • Maintain, archive, file and update all for construction and as built drawings to provide a retrievable database for all Selfridges properties
  • Be responsible to manage and deliver accurate ‘Space Allocation’ (updated space management drawings) and reports. This task includes site walks (all store locations), confirming data with finance and B&M teams and delivery of drawings to deadlines.
  • Support Design with feasibility plans for strategic projects, highlighting retail potential, M&E information and retail v stock room square meter where required
  • Understand the importance of time management and maintaining high levels of drawing and presentation standard

The Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to a degree level in the design field (Interior Design, Architecture) or technical CAD qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at a retail company or architecture or design practice
  • An expert in Autocad (this is our core program)
  • Experienced with CAFM software a plus but not vital
  • Competent with Revit & BIM
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite particularly Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experienced in Sketchup is a plus
  • Maintaining drawing file records to a high standard
  • Excellent in communication skills and time management
  • Inspiring a positive and pacey working attitude
  • Able to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Able to undertake briefs and tasks and manage expectations with a range of stakeholders, establishing positive working relationships
  • Able to manage workload/deadlines and communicate deliverables
  • Strong in creative and technical drawing understanding and ability to translate this into practical solutions
  • Carrying out site visits (including Birmingham and Manchester) when required
  • Drawings always presented in a clear, considered format, with understand of scales, and requirements of drawing data
  • Ability to produce presentation documents to a high standard
