Role Responsibility

  • The development and delivery of Selfridges Business Resilience (BR) preparedness and capability, including Policies, Plans, Procedures and Recovery arrangements, and their effectiveness
  • To support the Director of Loss Prevention & Security in the escalation and activation of business responses, in the event of a Major Incident or Crisis
  • To develop, produce and implement an annual BR exercising, testing, and training programme for the company’s Incident, Crisis Management & Business Recovery arrangements
  • To act as the functional subject matter expert for all matters relating to BR, on behalf of Loss Prevention & Security.
  • To identify and progress areas for personal development
  • To agree performance objectives and manage performance in line with performance management process.

 

 Role Scope:

 

  • All UK Stores, Offices and Critical Supplier’s locations
  • Available 24/7
  • Providing key management skills to the specialist area of BR, ensuring the creation, development and maintenance of policies, plans, procedures, and recovery arrangements, identifying, mitigating, and responding to a major incident or crisis
  • Align to and support the Loss Prevention & Security strategy, vision, and purpose.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • The continual assessment of the BR capability, maintaining and implementing a BR Exercising, Testing & Training Programme
  • Monitoring and reporting on emerging BR risks and threats, reporting all significant changes
  • Ensuring the completion of Business Impact Analysis and risk assessments, to determine IT Systems and Infrastructure restoration, is in line with business requirements
  • Maximising opportunities within appropriate resources, including budgets, that provide support and guidance for the management and maintenance of the Exercising, Testing & Training Programme
  • Ensuring BR Policies, Plans, Procedures, and Recovery arrangements, are developed, exercised, tested, and maintained, in accordance with the Exercise, Testing & Training Programme
  • Designing and delivering realistic and credible exercises, tests and training programmes, identifying lessons, agreeing, and monitoring actions required
  • Verifying and monitoring Functional Business Resilience capabilities, developing Functional Response & Recovery Plans, ensuring work around arrangements required are considered, in place and the means to work remotely, are both available and fit for purpose
  • Monitoring IT Disaster Recovery arrangements, ensuring they meet the businesses priorities and are regularly tested
  • Developing BR awareness, understanding & engagement of Key Stakeholders
  • Communicating with all relevant external partners, authorities, and associations, to ensure Selfridges has up to date intelligence and knowledge of business impacts.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Possess, strong management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Is proactive, self-motivated to work independently, getting the best out of resources available, co-ordinating multiple activities, in a constantly changing and evolving environment
  • Is confident, able to communicate well, be professional and confident always, demonstrating tact, initiative, integrity, and strong influencing skills, providing confidence to senior management
  • Able to engage with key functions and partners, to maximise the efficiency of the company’s BR capability, bringing changes that will help minimise risk
  • A god understanding of retail environments
  • BCI qualification at MBCI level

 

 This role guide represents a summary of the main areas of activity for the role, however all team members at Selfridges are expected to be flexible in the work they undertake, which may change from time to time, according to the needs of the business.
