Role Responsibility

As an Assistant Styling Manager, you will lead and implement the Selfridges creative vision through the execution and management of the Menswear Online Photoshoots, ensuring that all styling is aspirational, on brand and Selfridges appropriate. You will act as a member of management within the Styling team; sharing knowledge, guiding the Stylists and Assistants with the styling process and to support Styling Manager – Menswear overseeing the team. This role is key to supporting the Styling Manager in all aspects of the studio process and being a point of contact in their absence. You will inspire and educate the team developing individual’s skills, leading the team to deliver exceptional, creative imagery, as well as demonstrate and maintain best practices, not only to achieve high standards of styling and imagery but also to maintain agreed efficiencies within the studios.

As an Assistant Styling Manager, you will:

• Manage Menswear Stylists, leading and encouraging their development through training and feedback, as well as conduct 1-2-1’s and annual reviews for direct reports, retaining and developing key talent.

• Sub edit daily contact sheets, working to high-capacity daily deadlines to ensure all styling is dynamic, aspirational, on brand and in keeping with our in-house style guides.

• Create and maintain menswear character guides, updating seasonally.

• Maintain and update menswear Style Guides to ensure visual quality and consistency across imagery.

• Supporting with briefing in new season following shows and buying seasonal downloads

• Organise and lead training sessions and styling workshops with the styling team and wider photostudio department. 

• Liaise with the Buying teams to ensure brand imagery consistent with the business & brand vision.

• Work closely with the Head of Art Direction – Photostudio, casting and the Production team to ensure brand-appropriate models are booked, carrying out model castings and composing draft Call Sheets.

• Overseeing daily ecommerce shoots and ensuring the creative styling vision is being executed and aligned.

• Leading weekly team meetings, in the Styling Managers absence.

• Driving team moral, implementing best practice, sharing successes and initiatives.

• Manage the Menswear Styling team in the Styling Managers absence.

• Liaise with photography, art direction, retouch, product and copy teams to ensure daily production targets are met and implement most efficient ways of working.

• Update and maintain studio wardrobe (both own bought and sample) and consumables.

• Lead and inspire, living the Selfridges values.

The Ideal Candidate

This role requires a person with excellent brand knowledge and a very strong creative visual focus, as well as possessing strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Previous experience in a Senior or Styling Manager role

• Excellent communication skills and confidence in giving direction

• Strong fashion, editorial and brand/competitor knowledge

• Luxury Ecommerce experience

• A problem solver who is confident in decision making, organised and detail orientated.

• Ability to influence, manage and develop junior members of the team

• Confident and articulate ability to liaise with senior management and parallel departments.

• Strong organisation skills, with a pro-active ‘can do’ attitude

• Good time management within a busy and pressured environment

• Flexibility with willingness to go the extra mile.

• A forward thinker who is equipped to embrace the demands of a rapidly growing business.
