Assistant Marketing Manager - China

Role Responsibility

The Assistant Marketing Manager - China will be responsible for managing the social media content across Chinese platforms (Weibo, WeChat, RED), lending their excellent copywriting skills and creative flair to growing Selfridges’ China social communities.

As the Assistant Marketing Manager for China, you will

•Drive a customer centric marketing strategy for China, drawing on our core values and positioning Selfridges as a unique, world class destination that stands for a sustainable future and is inclusive for all. 

•Support to China Marketing Manager with the planning and execution of key China campaigns – partnering closely with the relevant Customer Marketing, CRM, Communications, PR, Social, Retail, and Creative teams to plan, integrate and align delivery of marketing activity

•Update the wider business on performance of China marketing campaigns and activations, informing Retail, Creative and Editorial teams of best practice during key cultural and customer moments. 

•Copywrite for Selfridges’ Chinese social channels (Weibo, WeChat, RED) and ensure Selfridges brand identity is maintained in the Chinese market;

•Utilise local insights and communicate relevant stories and messaging that will resonate with the Chinese digital community;

•Partner with the CRM and Insight teams to develop better customer insight and customer KPI measurement/tracking activity for international customer segments.  Tailors this to international channels and uses insights to inform strategy and execution.

•Monitor the marketplace, competitor marketing activity and keeps the wider business informed of key competitor marketing strategy innovations, industry initiatives and key developments aimed at the international customer.

•Generate monthly reports on social media performance to circulate within the business;

•Liaise with in-house and freelance designers and developers to create assets and graphics for relevant channels;

•Coordinate paid social activities with relevant stakeholders and media agencies and closely monitor KPIs;

•Other duties and responsibilities to support the wider Brand and International Marketing team as required.

The Ideal Candidate

•  You'll be fluent in both English & Mandarin​, and able to read and write in Simplified Chinese

•Have proven experience of creating social media content for luxury fashion or lifestyle brands;

•Be digitally savvy and possess expertise and up-to-date knowledge in growing communities and followings on Chinese social platforms;

•Possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders and influence decisions at all levels;

•Have solid fashion knowledge and strong awareness of fashion trends, as well as experience working in the luxury industry;

•Have the ability to work under pressure to ensure tight deadlines are met;

•Have the ability to build and maintain key relationships cross-functionally;

•Be commercially aware and customer focused; and be flexible, open to change and proactive;

•Experienced in managing China social channels and executing paid social activities across these.

•Able to manage senior stakeholders, peers and work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation

•Highly organised with an ability to multi-task, prioritise and work to tight deadlines
