Role Responsibility

As our new China Content Manager you’ll be responsible for managing translation of all digital content and providing quality assurance and approval of newly translated/created content for Selfridges online. As part of this, you will:

· Manage translation quality across all our digital store-fronts in Chinese regions (e.g. selfridges.com/CN/zh).

· Work closely with the Editorial team to ensure Selfridges brand integrity is maintained online using your own experience and expert knowledge of the Chinese market.

· Manage the accurate and timely delivery of translated content (e.g. product, editorial, app push) across all devices and day-to-day operations in collaboration with a translation partner.

· Be heavily involved in managing machine translation by developing a glossary, arranging translation priorities and trouble-shooting when needed.

· Be involved in app updates and website release projects to ensure the Chinese digital storefronts are of high quality both editorially and functionally.

· Support the China Marketing and Content Manager to manage the translation budget and signing off BAU social media copy.

· Work cross-functionally to develop bespoke content for the Chinese market for key moments of the year (e.g. Chinese New Year, Golden Week, Singles Day).

· Share local customer and market insight widely across the business with Trade, B&M, Retail Operations.

The Ideal Candidate

· It is essential that you’re bi-lingual for this role (Mandarin mother tongue, fluent in English and able to read and write in Simplified Chinese.)

· You’ll have proven experience of translating, transcreating and editing luxury fashion or lifestyle copy.

· You’ll be logical in nature and take a methodical approach to problem-solving. You’ll also be comfortable identifying pain points in complex processes, especially when it comes to the translation workflow.

· You will have an interest and awareness in the fashion industry and some experience working in luxury would really help you out in this role.

· Selfridges is a fast-paced business, so you’ll deal with change well and have a flexible attitude towards your work.

· You will have up-to-date knowledge of the ecosystem of Chinese social media (e.g. Weibo, WeChat) and the ability to communicate this to the business concisely.
