Job Introduction

 Selfridges are looking for an Art Director to work with the Photo studio team. Reporting to the Creative Lead, you will deliver industry-leading digital creative shoots across fashion, beauty, food, home and kidswear. 

The Art Director will work alongside a creative team consisting of a Styling Editor, Creative Photographer, Creative Stylist and Production team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic & collaborative individual who can adapt their creative output depending on the brief whilst taking on direction from the Creative Lead and our Creative Vision team. The role will require someone confident and  happy to work within a fast-paced environment with the ability to balance several projects at any one time. Previous experience with a luxury brand or agency is essential.

As the Art Director, you will: 

  • Deliver end-to-end creative shoots, from concepts, shoot, and post-production through to asset delivery across stills and video.
  • Art direct on-set across Fashion, Beauty, Kidswear, Food and Home. Confident in lighting techniques, angles and prop sourcing.
  • Respond to Marketing briefs by creating Art direction packs that align with our brand Image Principles (set out by the Creative Lead and the Creative Vision team).
  • Experience on digital marketing campaigns and a keen understanding of evolving digital trends and activations
  • Work closely with our in-house creative squad composing of; Photographer, Producer, Stylist, Retouch and Bookings Editor. 
  • Identify specialist creative needs and the necessary freelance talent where required.
  • Whilst not involved in the daily e-commerce delivery, work collaboratively alongside the Styling Editor and Product Styling Editor to ensure the customer journey is consistent and aligns with creative.
  • Support with E-commerce testing when required.

How you’ll do it…you will have:

  • Brilliant image research skills with a knowledge of industry-leading talents
  • Understanding of budget management and how best to optimise for shoots
  • Solid presentation skills, in both creating decks and presenting back concepts to key stakeholders
  • Solid experience working with Luxury brands across multiple categories.
  • Ability to work at pace with a confident calm demeanour and positive attitude.
  • Awareness and understanding of sustainability and how it threads through all image and business endeavours.
  • Whilst no direct line management required, identify the progress and development opportunities for junior creatives in the Studio, empowering them to make creative decisions across our daily e-commerce sets and in elevated imagery.
  • Confident in delivering solutions and adapting to any problems that arise.
  • Understanding of .com image ratios and best use of assets across multiple content spots
  • Proficient in Adobe Cloud, especially Photoshop
  • This role is 5 days a week, full-time with one mid-week day WFH
